Composition and Description
Lanolin Fatty Acids (Bleached) is a product of the alkaline hydrolysis of Lanolin, prepared by purifying the wool grease that is a byproduct from when sheep wool is finished into wool products. The fatty acids is a complex mixture of straight chain acids, branched chain acids and hydroxy acids. It is in the form of a hard, waxy solid. The majority of the mixture of fatty acids is saturated with carbon chain lengths varying from C8 to C40.
Features
LANOLIN FATTY ACIDS (Bleached) are a by-product of the manufacture of lanolin alcohol; this is therefore very cost-efficient. It is a unique product with the consistency of a soft wax, and has yellow-to-cream color. Its soaps have o/w emulsifying properties, and in emulsions the imperfect solubility of soaps does not present a problem.
Applications
LANOLIN FATTY ACIDS (Bleached)
Used in detergent, shampoo, shaving cream and eye makeup due to its permeability to skin, antibacterial and emulsifying property, and as antirusting agent, leather auxiliaries as well. Also used as Metallic soap, activator, mold release agent material.
Processing
Easy melting; highly compatible with other fatty acids oils, fats and waxes. Do not hold at a high temperature for long periods, otherwise the acid value may fall significantly as a result of lactone formation. Otherwise the acid value may fall significantly as a result of lactone formation.
Solubility
Water: insoluble; mineral oil: partially soluble; acetone: partially soluble; ethanol: partially soluble; isopropyl myristate: partially soluble.
Storage
Stored in closed containers in a cool place.
