Composition and Description
ISOPROPYL LANOLATE is the ester of selective Lanolin Fatty Acids reacted with Isopropyl Alcohol. The crude ester is subjected to two stage molecular distillation where the various different molecular weight fractions of the crude ester are separated. The mid fraction is carefully removed and then sent through a series of falling film evaporators to remove any unpleasant smells that may be present.

ISOPROPYL LANOLATE has excellent characteristics in terms of color and odor. It has a high homogeneity because most of the liquid components have been removed. It is non-greasy and gives the skin a soft and smooth feeling. Although it is not a strong W/O emulsifier, it has good compatibility with emulsions of this type, especially when a small amount of cetyl alcohol is added.

Easy to apply melting on contact with the skin. Readily absorbed without stickiness. Good lubricant and glossing agent. Lipsticks, creams and lotions for dry skin, superfatting agent in soaps. Non-greasy hydrophobic binder in pressed powders.

ISOPROPYL LANOLATE is safe and easy to use. The melting is best done in a jacketed vessel, but the material is soft enough to be pumped without being heated. It should not be heated above 80 °C for an extended time. Cool storage is recommended. When stored under certain circumstances, light syneresis might occur because some esters of low molecular weight separate and form a free liquid phase. Homogeneity, however, can be easily restored by melting the material.
